1. Keep Your Clothes Off The Floor

We know – after a long day, it can be tempting to come home, change into your PJ’s and toss your clothes on the floor. Don’t do it! Instead, do one of these three things:
  1. Hang it up.
  2. Fold it and put it away.
  3. Throw it in the laundry hamper.
By simply following through on one of these simple steps, you can eliminate the dreaded floordrobe, and drastically increase the cleanliness of your bedroom.

2. Clean Your Sheets!

Having freshly laundered bed sheets is another way to keep your room feeling nice, fresh and clean. When you sleep, sweat, dead skin cells and bodily oils make their way into your sheets and pillowcases and that can really start to smell. For people with asthma and allergies, it’s best to wash your sheets once a week. For everyone else, it should be done at least every other week.

3. Dedicate 10 Minutes Each Week

Keep your bedroom clean on an ongoing basis by dedicating 10 minutes each week for cleaning such as vacuuming, dusting, cleaning mirrors and horizontal surfaces, and general tidying. Find a way to pass the time by listening to a few of your favorite songs, an audiobook, or a good podcast. The time will go by in a flash and it will help keep your room looking and feeling great.

4. Everything In Its Place

If you’re anything like us, you bring a lot of stuff into your bedroom that doesn’t belong there—you know, things like food, work, car keys. To keep your room tidy, use the “full hands” principle; Every time you leave your bedroom, take something out that doesn’t belong there, and put it where it belongs.

5. Declutter Horizontal Surfaces

Your bedroom is no place for clutter! That means that your surfaces should be pretty clear. Set a limit of how many things you’re willing to keep on flat surfaces like dressers and night tables. Three to five items per surface is ideal. That way, you won’t get stressed out by all the clutter in your room!
These steps for keeping your bedroom clean may sound simple – but for those that struggle with keeping a clean room, simple is good! If you can stick to these principles, you’ll see just how much easier it can be to achieve a clean and tidy bedroom.
